Asa Hems
Access Advisor, CAE
My last role was at Sociability, a mobile app designed to help disabled people find accessible places to socialise. This role as a London Mapper saw me visit venues to collect accessibility data across four categories: the venue’s entrance, indoor areas, external areas, and the visual, audio and sensory aspects within the venue. This information would be shared on the app and I would also speak with the venue’s owner about any potential improvements they could make. I currently manage the Access and Sustainability Advice Service (ASAS) at CAE, which provides advice and support for London-based charities looking to make their buildings and external environments more inclusive. I studied International Travel and Tourism Management for two years during which time I travelled to Thailand, the USA and Poland. Outside of work, I'm an actor. Most recently I have appeared in a short film and has been a BBC extra. I enjoy keeping active with wheelchair football and boccia.
