Purple Tuesday is a social movement and a change initiative working to improve the customer experience for disabled people and their families 365 days a year.
To participate in the movement your organisation makes one commitment to change a practice each year that will lead to greater inclusion and accessibility. These changes are recognised as part of the global disabled customer celebration day where disability communities and organisations connect.
Commitments can be as simple as teaching your staff the ‘six second rule’ when engaging with customers on the autistic spectrum or implementing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme. Through to undertaking an access audit of your website or providing disability awareness training.
Purple Tuesday can support. We can take you on a disability inclusion journey from initial awareness and understanding through to active involvement and engagement. Our work is rooted in the voice and lived experience of disabled people, making us a truly authentic organization to work alongside you.
Our activities are guided by our three core Purple Pillars.
Place. Your physical and digital environments. We support you to become more accessible
People. Your most valuable asset. We provide training and development focused on both employees and customers. Building the disability confidence of your people. And
Policies and Process. Providing an inclusive framework for everything you do.
Last year, 6,000 organisations, from across all sectors and of all sizes, from well-known Corporates to Micro Enterprises, participated in Purple Tuesday, making over 7,000 changes to accessibility. We celebrated in five countries and had an audience reach of 23 million.
Purple Tuesday is a #MovementMoving, and your disability support solution.
Get involved today. It works for your disabled customers, it works for your staff and it makes commercial and social sense too.
